Ry holding his cast he took off!(sorry forgot to turn it)

Broken arm update!!

Well Riley broke his arm on February 28th and five days later I took him to the doc and had another x-ray done to make sure it was still lined up and in place and it was thank goodness-I think he fell on it 49 times no lie. Any way, the sugar tong splint thing they put on him in the E.R. was driving him absolutely crazy. It went clear up past his elbow and was itching him really bad. The night before we went back to the doc he was crying and digging at it-doing everything he possiblly could to get it off. I kept telling him the doc would probably take it off the next day and put a cast on. Oh my did he freak out I had this stupid thing and I'm not having a cast put on he kept saying. So the next day we went to the doc and got the cast put on. They gave him the choice of a pink or blue cast. He wanted pink, but his dad wasn't about to let that happen. So he ended up with blue. Any way, he was suppose to get it off this Monday the 23rd, but that's not going to happen. He took it off tonight. I about died. I was cooking dinner and facing the stove when he said mommy so I turned around and said what and he said look what I did. I look down and he is holding the cast in his hand. I took my cast off-I can see that why? Because. So it is off-I told him well we better put it back on just to see what he would say. NO mom my arm doesn't hurt anymore. I called Tracy(brandons mom who works for a orthepedic doc) she told me just to ace wrap it and he should be fine. I tell you my kids constantly have me going and wondering.

Other than that life is great. Brandon and I just got back from Mesquite. Grandma Tracy and Grandpa Jody watched the kids while Brandon and I went to Mesquite for a couple of days. Let me tell you it was a nice get away. We both had massages, went swimming, shopping, out to eat, relaxed and enjoyed one anothers company without the kids. When we got back to St. George we went and bought a new car. We bought a Toyota Sienna. Yes a mini-van and we absolutely love it. On the way down to St. George I drove and Brandon had 3 pillows, my purse, the diaper bag and a bag of goodies on his lap. It was not a good thing. He told me he would not ever go like that again. So we resolved that problem. It was a change to go to a van, but it is the most comfortable and roomy car I have ever been in. We both love it and I never thought I would here that out of my husband, but times change.

It has been so nice and warm the last couple of days here. I love it and have spring fever like crazy. I worked in the yard today and yesterday and got a much needed suntan.

The night he broke his arm
(eating apples in bed with his sister)

He would not give me a decent smile for anything

This is what he fell off of when he broke his arm

Ry's broken arm

I haven't posted for a while and not a lot has been going on in our life besides the usual other than Riley broke his right arm on Saturday. I never thought I would have this happen to me especially without Brandon being there but it did. I was babysitting two other kids on Saturday afternoon and they decided they wanted to go outside and play. We hadn't been outside more then five minutes when it happened. Three of the kids including Ry was standing at the top of this little tikes toy that we have when all of the sudden he flipped out backwards on accident and used his hand to catch his fall. It all happened so fast I don't know exactly what happened. The second he landed he screamed and screamed. That is not like him(brandon won't put up with crying he wants him to be tough) any way, I picked him up and held him and he just cried and cried and said he wanted to go in and lay down and watch a movie. In my mind I'm thinking I wonder if it's broke, no it can't be he probably just landed on it funny and it will be sore for a couple of days. He wouldn't let me near him. He wouldn't let me give him any motrin-he just kept freaking out. So I finally had to threaten him if he didn't take any I was going to give his 4-wheeler away to another little boy. That sounds mean I know but it worked. Any way, I laid him down and he was asleep within 20 minutes. He slept for a couple hours and woke up crying. His wrist was swollen and bruised so I knew I needed to get a x-ray done. I told him we were going to the hospital and he just cried and said no I want to go back to bed. This is not like him. I got someone to watch Whitley and took him to the ER. Sure enough it was broke. He broke both the radius and the ulna.(Both bones in the lower arm) I about started to cry. They put a sugar splint on it, wrapped it in a ace bandage and gave him a cute snoopy sling. The nurse just loved him and gave him a klondike bar and stickers. Needless to say when we left he was in a lot happier mood. You would never know he has a broken arm. He still does pretty much everything on his own. He even goes for a bike ride with me. The doc that saw him said he would have to wear the sugar sling for around 3 weeks. Riley thinks he meant 3 days and keeps trying to get me to take it off. We go to the doc tomorrow so I will have to keep everyone posted.
